seems like yesterday

deepest apologies, I hadn't realised how long its been since I last blogged,
I intended to post last week and do a review of the uttoxeter show, but my new sooper dooper phone refuses to move my photos so Iv been sulking.
not just sulking actually, Iv been such a miserable whiner for the past few weeks that my good friend Frankie felt obliged to make me three perfect little prayer flags to cheer me up.

I thought this one was a particularly good likeness-especially the hair, got that right.

very kind, thank you Frankie.
so what have I been doing lately?, well the doodly thing is nearly finished, I have just bought a little screen printing wot sit, so I thought Id add a bee, cool huh....

And a sort of indian paisley flower.

also machine quilting this little chap[I know, I'm rubbish , wheres Trudi when you need her]]
And here's some glimpses of an interesting stitchy thing, that will be a gift so only glimpses,I'm afraid.
I do love stitching- hope it looks indian...

And here's a shopping tip of the week;-A  precision oilier,
fantastic for sewing machines, less than 10 pounds in a halfords near you, or possibly your hubby's toolbox, I can say this because Mr shed man doesn't read my blog,Trudi says everyone should have one.

And does anyone remember this?Mexican shibori...
its had a nice holiday in the wardrobe, now its time to come out and be
STITCHED-A LOT...if you want to see more visit my other  blog,

hey, mr postman....

well, we all had a lovely time on Saturday at Angela daymonds open day,and as you can see, its a good job that someone brought some lovely extra cupcakes, because we ate all the cakes on the cake stand, it wasn't all me, I had help......
, it was a really busy day, nice to see old friends and make new ones....
and when it was all over I went to see the little lambikins.

I finished my Little   pockets book and I am so pleased with it, its only about 4 inches square and I can see so many possibilities for another one

before I joined up the sides of the pockets, I stitched each one into the book cover like a signature, then joined the sides..

I allowed about a quarter of an inch gap for each one, the book has a lovely tall fat feel about it.

the cover is a long piece, wraps round and over the front

I really enjoyed stitching this, I also made another one, you can see it on my other blog herehere

what else have I done this week? well, I saw this at a sewing show on the janome stand for thirty squid. so I bought it for the smallest princess, she loves it..

here are two of my young ladies working hard..

its nice in the school holidays to have time to really work on something

,
Our very nice postman called today with a small parcel--threads....hurrah
Trudi from quilting prolifically recently gave me a new thread to test drive, its an aurifil no 12 AND I LOVE IT !!!!!!
its like a valdani  thread but very smooth-- it just slides through the cloth,  wonderful.
but where can I buy it? searched everywhere and finally Trudi sent me link, so thank you new threads quilt shop of andover, hants.
someone told me about a great yli thread called Rio De janeiro, limes, purples and pinks and oranges,,,ooh yes- so i ordered one of those too....

must go play now.....nighty night...

catching up....

How is it that I can be to busy to blog, but I am never to busy to buy a new handbag!
I just thought that if Trudi from quilting prolifically can  show off  a new handbag, so can I, and isn't it lovely.....
I went to the sewing for pleasure   show last week, mostly I was looking for threads, but I kept getting drawn to this lovely layer cake, don't usually buy fabric- but oooh this was sooo beautiful, the sheer flamboyance and exuberant colours kept calling out to me, and I'm not generally a big quilt person any more, but I could see myself on a cool summers evening in the garden, sitting on the swinging seat, wrapped in this big floral quilt- hopefully beautifully quilted by Trudi [not me].

I also bought a really nice little bag of Japanese scraps, quite fancy playing with them,

Moving on to more interesting things......
this Saturday, my good friend Angela from fenland textile studios is having an open studio day, I am really excited for her to have a really energising space both to work and teach in...
please do come over to spalding ,lincolnshire for a visit and a cup of tea, both Trudi and I will be there, Trudi will be machine quilting on the big frame- I will be hanging about and eating all the cake, and stitching a bit......
follow this link for directions.

Angela's given me some of her natural dyeing samples to do something with ,I know its natural because its got tiny bits of stick caught in it........-very nice soft rose colours.....

whilst stitching, I decided to look for some inspiration on my book shelf, and I dug out this old favourite- an absolute cannot live without essential for all quilters, well written, well photographed, an oldie but goody.

that's all for now, I would love to see you on Saturday, come see the baby lambs, the tulips and the flat, flat horizons and of course, the studio.....
bye for now---Tina
